UM places 38 student-athletes on Big Sky all-academic team

The University of Montana had 38 student-athletes on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic teams this spring, the league office announced Friday.

Track athletes Loni Perkins-Judisch of Conrad, Brianne Wolfe of Chester and Pete Betcher of Choteau were among the Grizzly standouts honored.
Montana was represented by five student-athletes from the women's golf team, four from the women's tennis team, three from the men's tennis team, 15 from the women's outdoor track and field team and 11 from the men's outdoor track and field team.

To be eligible, student-athletes had to have participated in at least half of the team's 2007 competitions, achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and completed at least one academic term at UM.

Athletes honored, with their GPA and course majors, were:

Jacqueline Olson, 3.44, Anthropology; Krista Swanson, 3.98, Elementary education; Jill Walker, 3.52, Pharmacy; Alyssa Williamson, 3.20, General studies; Brittany Williamson, 3.76, Elementary education.

Women's tennis — Martyna Nowak, 3.85, Management; Danni Paulson, 3.52, Pre-pharmacy; Jessica Souza, 3.86, Pre-psychology; Liz Walker, 3.21, Health and human performance.

Men's tennis — Mikolaj Borkowski, 3.50, Health and human performance; Raydner Ramos, 3.62, Business administration; Stuart Wing, 3.33, Business administration.

Women's track — Brooke Andrus, 3.96, Pre-journalism; Megan Betz, 3.29, Health and human performance; Kaci Calaway, 3.67, Health and human performance; Baily Cox, 3.87, Biology; Abbey Effertz, 3.58, Political science; Shannon Johnson, 3.51, Curriculum and instruction; Megan McKinnie, 3.37, Health and human performance; Alicia Mills, 3.40, Health and human performance; Loni Perkins-Judisch, 3.44, Business administration; Halladay Quist, 3.50, Business administration; Kristen Steiner, 3.53, Biology; Kim Tritz, 3.65, Biology; Anya Wechsler, 4.00, Biology; Brittany Williams, 3.53, Health and human performance; Brianne Wolfe, 4.00, Pre-pharmacy.
