New insurance plan aimed at drivers

AA Ireland has teamed up with VIVAS Health to launch unique range of health insurance plans specifically aimed at drivers.
AA Health Plan and AA Health Plan Plus will enable members to claim back money from their health insurance on a range of car safety equipment. The plans also include a unique stress management helpline facility, designed to assist in the reduction of driver stress and road rage.
Ireland’s horror story on the roads means that at the moment people are being killed at the rate of almost one person a day, and for every person killed on the roads six are seriously injured. The AA Health Plan and the AA Health Plan Plus are the first plans on the market to offer money back on a range of car safety accessories such as baby car seat, maternity seat belt, steering wheel grips, parking sensors, in car first aid kit and motoring abroad kit to enhance driver safety.
Increases in incidences of road rage and driver stress are a further challenge to road safety. In Dublin alone, there are 650,000 journeys to work or education during a typical morning ‘rush hour’. According to DTO figures, 56 per cent of those journeys are by car, with traffic congestion becoming a major source of stress and tension in people’s lives. The provision of a stress management helpline is an innovative first in the Irish health insurance market. This service enables members that feel under pressure and prone to ‘snapping’ when behind the wheel to talk to trained councillors to work through the aggression that can cause road rage.
The AA Health Plans offers members a choice of hospital cover - AA Health Plan provides cover for a semi-private room in a private hospital and the AA Health Plan Plus covers a private room in a private hospital. As with all VIVAS Health plans, members are guaranteed the most comprehensive access to hospital and screening facilities, including access to overseas treatment facilities. Members also will benefit from VIVAS Health’s range of pioneering lifestyle benefits which allow members to use their health insurance even when they aren’t sick, such as cover for laser eye surgery, teeth whitening and smoking cessation therapy. Discussing the announcement of the partnership with the AA Ireland, Oliver Tattan, CEO VIVAS Health said: “Any measures that can be taken to positively impact on road safety are hugely important. By facilitating AA’s members to claim on road safety equipment and through the provision of a unique stress management helpline service, we hope to assist in the aim of improving road safety. VIVAS Health has continued to champion the extension of health insurance to enable people use their benefits even when they are not sick.”
We know our members are health conscious and many are keen to get better value and more benefits from a trusted supplier,” added AA Membership Director Dennis Fisk. “With VIVAS Health, we have designed a health care offer that includes unique features with their specific needs in mind.”
The AA Health Plan and the AA Health Plan Plus will be provided by AA Ireland and will be underwritten by VIVAS Health. For more information, call 1850 456 788 or log onto the AA Ireland website.
