will provide more than $30 million in equipment and services to a new hospital and cancer center in British Columbia under an agreement announced Wednesday.
GE Healthcare, which produces medical imaging equipment at GE Healthcare Technologies in Waukesha, said the equipment and services will be supplied to Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre, which is scheduled to open for patients in summer 2008.
The Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre will be a 300-bed facility designed to serve more than 150,000 people in the Abbotsford area as well as the 330,000 people in the surrounding Fraser Valley region.
Equipment included in the deal will serve a range of patient care: physiological monitoring, surgical suites, cardiology devices, medical imaging and maternal and infant care.
The partnership was announced Wednesday at a product exhibition where hospital staff was invited to view the new equipment. The joint announcement was made by the Honourable George Abbott, Minister of Health, British Columbia; and Joe Sardi, country general manager, GE Healthcare, Canada.
