Coke To Buy Vitamin Water Maker

Coca-Cola is expanding into the non-carbonated
drinks market in a big way.

It has announced a deal to buy Vitamin water maker Glaceau, formally known as Energy Brands, for 4.1 billion dollars.

Coca-Cola chairman and CEO Neville Isdell calls vitaminwater "the icon of active lifestyles."

The fast-growing company, based in Whitestone, New York, was formed in 1996. It also makes products called Fruitwater, Smartwater and Vitaminenergy. Coke plans to retain current management for at least three years.

The deal is expected to close in the summer.
